PEACEFUL PROTESTS ARISE AS MUSIC FANS OF THE BAND GRAND DADDY JACK, A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BASED FUNK/RNB SOUL JAZZ BAND, ARE FORBIDDEN TO DOWNLOAD CONTENT FROM THE BAND'S WEBSITE. GOVERNMENT SANCTIONS CREATING TENSIONS BETWEEN THE US AND IRAN APPEAR TO BE THE CAUSE. LOCAL MUSIC FANS DENOUNCE GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES' ACTIONS AND VOW TO FIND "ANY MEANS NECESSARY" TO ACQUIRE RECORDINGS OF THE BAND'S LATEST MATERIAL. IRAN'S PRESIDENT HASSAN ROUHANI SAYS THAT THE BAND WILL BE "FORBIDDEN TO ENTER THE COUNTRY TO PERFORM" THE ORIGINAL SONGS THAT ARE QUICKLY SPREADING A MESSAGE OF PEACE AND LOVE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. PROTESTERS HAVE ALREADY BEGUN A CAMPAIGN TO UNDERMINE THESE SANCTIONS.
"WE WILL NOT LET THE TYRANNICAL PRACTICES OF OUR CLERICAL LEADERS TO KEEP US FROM ENJOYING THE SONGS OF THE BAND GRAND DADDY JACK. OUR SPIRITUAL WELLBEING DEPENDS UPON IT." ...MOSHEN NASJ HAMASANI
OPPOSITION TO THE BAND HAS INCREASED OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS FOLLOWING THE RELEASE OF THE SONG "FEEL THE POWER" WHICH HAS GIVEN MUSIC FANS A VOICE AND MOTIVATION TO STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND JUST.
Protesters peacefully chant "We love Grand Daddy Jack" as sanctions are imposed on music downloads.
2 MEN WERE ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF UNLAWFULLY SCALING AND DEFACING THE EIFFEL TOWER IN PARIS, FRANCE. OFFICIALS ACCUSED THE MEN OF ALLEGEDLY SCALING THE LOWER PORTION OF THE TOWER AND HANGING A BANNER WITH THE WORDS "GRAND DADDY JACK", A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BASED FUNK/RNB SOUL BAND. THE BANNER APPEARED AT APPROXIMATELY 5 AM AND WAS REPORTEDLY HUNG WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES BY TWO INDIVIDUALS WEARING BLACK SKI-MASKS TO HIDE THEIR IDENTITY. ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS WAS REPORTED AS HAVING LONG HAIR AND APPEARED TO BE INTOXICATED. IT WAS ALSO REPORTED THAT A BOTTLE OF ALCOHOL WAS DROPPED WHILE THE INDIVIDUAL SCALED THE TOWER. THE RESIDUAL GLASS AND LIQUID SAMPLES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT. THE BANNER WAS CAREFULLY REMOVED BY A TEAM OF SKILLED PERSONNEL WHICH TOOK SEVERAL HOURS. THE MEN ACCUSED HAVE DENIED ANY INVOLVEMENT AND HAVE BEEN RELEASED ON THEIR OWN RECOGNIZANCE.
ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT INVOLVING THE BAND "GRAND DADDY JACK", THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INSTANCES OF SUCH VANDALISM ON THE EIFFEL TOWER IN RECENT YEARS. THE BAND'S LEADER WAS CONTACTED AND DENIED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE INCIDENT BUT REMARKED "WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER OUR FANS, HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND THEIR MOTIVATION AND DETERMINATION TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT OUR MUSIC. WE ARE SPREADING A MESSAGE OF HOPE AND LOVE ACROSS THE GLOBE."
FRENCH OFFICIALS HAVE NOT FILED ANY FORMAL CHARGES AGAINST THE BAND.
A large banner with the name "Grand Daddy Jack" hangs from the lower portion of the Eiffel Tower.
AN ORANGE COUNTY TRANSIT BUS CARRYING 18 PASSENGERS WAS DELAYED FOR SEVERAL HOURS WHILE PASSENGERS WERE INTERVIEWED AND QUESTIONED AFTER THE BUS STRUCK AND KILLED A LOCAL 12 YEAR OLD GIRL'S EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL. THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SQUIRREL WAS NOT ON A LEASH AND WAS NOT LICENSED ACCORDING TO LOCAL OFFICIALS FROM IRVINE POLICE DEPARTMENT. NO PASSENGERS WERE SERIOUSLY HURT IN THE INCIDENT, HOWEVER ONE MAN WAS SEEN BEING HELPED INTO A VAN AFTER STUBBING HIS PINKY TOE ON THE DOOR OF THE BUS AS HE EXITED. WITNESSES SAY THAT THE SERVICE SQUIRREL APPEARED TO BE DRAWN TO THE ADVERTISEMENT ON THE SIDE OF THE BUS FOR LOCAL BAND "GRAND DADDY JACK".
IRVINE POLICE CITED THE 12 YEAR OLD GIRL'S PARENTS AND ARRESTED HER FATHER CHARGING HIM WITH RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT OF A MINOR, CHILD ABUSE AND ANIMAL ABUSE.
THE BUS DRIVER HAS BEEN RELIEVED OF DUTY AND WILL RECEIVE FULL SALARY WHILE BEING TREATED FOR STRESS AND WILL RECEIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING FOR A PERIOD OF 6 MONTHS. IN THE EVENT THE DRIVER CANNOT COPE WITH THE EFFECTS OF THE ACCIDENT SHE WILL BE OFFERED EARLY RETIREMENT WITH FULL BENEFITS INCLUDING HAZARD PAY AND DISABILITY.
